I’d just like to follow up and thank DG Construction for the standard of works on my project. I’m from an engineering background and have high standards myself so don’t say any of this lightly to any contractor.

We found DG Construction to be an excellent contractor, the best I have worked with from a DNO by far.

DG were collaborative with all our contractors, especially good with landowners and public on what is a very controversial project attracting a lot of interest from the media as well as the public.

The collaboration and flexibility with all parties was accompanied with a high standard of works and HSQE and any of our infrastructure affected was reinstated to a great standard.

Very pleased and as I’ve said we will keep you in mind for any future works we think we can involve you in as this trust in good attitude and standard of works is what is most important to us in frameworks for repeat business. I’ve reported this back to WPD also.

If anyone wishes for a reference over the phone at any point in the suture just get them to call me on the below number.

Woodlands Barton Wind Farm

New 33kv cable connection from Bugle 33/11kv s/s to the above site.

Following successful tender for the above job, Dave Galvin Construction started this 5.5km route in the highway on time and kept to the planned schedule throughout, despite numerous problems with the cable route its self, and despite us adding another job into the works.

All work was carried out in a safe and professional manner from the workforce, and any issue that arose during the work was dealt with promptly and efficiently by David himself. During the whole works I did not receive any customer complaints regarding the work due to the way David ran the job and dealt with the customers himself.

This was carried out during spring 2014 and since then there have been no defects received from the local highway authority.

David and his company have worked on 5 major projects in Cornwall over the past ten years.

His role was one of project manager, therefore co-ordinating all work activities in the planning and construction period

All the projects were completed as per the programme.

There were no safety issues on the projects.

There were no accidents on the projects.

To my knowledge there have been no defects on any of the   reinstatement work.

We had no complaints from the public, in fact we did have a number of positive comments on each project.

Each project had its own particular difficulties:

In 2005, Bugle - had a tight time scale.

In 2007, Fraddon - poor weather throughout the project.

In 2009, Bonython - found a second world war bomb on the planned cable route.

In 2013 St Germans – poor weather  throughout project.

In 2014 Woodlands Barton 33kV Tight time scale and excavating through rock.

David has managed these projects in a professional and successful manner.

DGC also assisted May Gurney in successfully achieving ‘NERS’ accreditation for the installation of ducts and cables, through Lloyd’s site assessments, during this project. Dave Galvin’s professionalism throughout this process was excellent; from re-sourcing all the necessary equipment, to pre-pairing the area to be assessed, to physically carrying out the work and managing (during assessment), to ensuring that he was confidently able to answer Lloyds questions, through his learned wealth of knowledge and interest in what he does.

To date I would claim that DGC are the only honest contractor that I have come across in 35 years of experience, i.e. he takes pride in his work and owns it, to the point where you would think that it was his land that he was digging-up and reinstating, and that the ducts and cable were his own property that he was installing.

DG Construction installed the two power Ccts (11.5km) 66kV also the two export 33kV Ccts from the subsea cable position to the Substation (2.5km)

The work was extremely involved and designed into these schemes was the Fibre Optic installation work of the same Cct length.

All of the above work was undertaken in a very professional manner with full adherence to all legislations issued by a number of stakeholders:-

NRSWA

Crown Estates

Harbour Master

Enviornmental Agency

EDFER

NPg

National Grid

Van Ordd

The work was completed with time to spare (awaiting the subsea cable) and to the correct specification with a very quick turnaround of As-built records.

 A first class job.

During my limited experience of David Galvin, I found him hard-working, well organised and cooperative.  He proved to be well aware of environmental and health and safety considerations.

As Western Power Distribution Team Manager, I have worked with Dave Galvin Construction on the following Schemes:

       HAWEY WAY BURNHAM OVERLAY 2009

       LOVE LANE BURNHAM 11KV    2009

BRIDGWATER 33KV  CANAL TO MORRISONS 2008

       BRIDGWATER LANDFILL 11KV   2005

On all the above schemes the conduct, quality of work, organisation and responsibility of Dave and all his staff have been exemplary. Problem solving and ownership of the schemes were particularly good.
